HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Alfredo Talip on the
4occasion of his 90th birthday on February 25, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alfredo Talip was born on February 25, 1925 in San
6Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico; he is the son of Santos and
7Alejandro Talip; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In his early adult life, Alfredo Talip labored as
9a seasonal migrant farm worker traveling back and forth from
10Mexico to southern Texas to find work; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Alfredo Talip left Mexico for Illinois in April of
121951; he arrived in Bristol to work on an asparagus farm; later
13that year, he moved to Aurora to find stable work and start a
14family; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Alfredo Talip married his wife, Julia, in July of
161952; they are the proud parents of 7 children and have 14
17grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Alfredo Talip worked at the Austin Western Company
19for 19 years; he subsequently worked for 18 years at
20Caterpillar, where he was active with United Auto Workers Local

2    WHEREAS, In 1959, Alfredo Talip was one of the founding
3members of the Aurora Latin American Club, the first social and
4cultural club for Mexicans and Tejanos in Aurora; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alfredo Talip has been active in Aurora politics
6for decades; he was a member of the Kennedy Club, which brought
7Senator John F. Kennedy to Aurora in 1960; he was a founding
8member of the Latin American Democratic Organization in 1975;
9he has also served as a Democratic precinct committeeman - a
10role in which he continues to serve today; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate and honor Alfredo Talip on the occasion of his
1490th birthday and wish him all the best in his future
15endeavors; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to Alfredo Talip as an expression of our
18congratulations.
