| 2 | | WHEREAS, Some public or private colleges and universities |
| 3 | | claim to be "veteran friendly" without having student veterans
|
| 4 | | represented on their governing boards; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Student veterans have different needs compared to |
| 6 | | other students; to ensure representation and consideration of |
| 7 | | those needs in the deliberations of post-secondary educational |
| 8 | | institutions' governing boards, student veterans should serve |
| 9 | | on those boards; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, These veteran student governing board members do |
| 11 | | not have to be voting members in order to impart their |
| 12 | | particular wisdom on issues affecting veterans; therefore, be |
| 13 | | it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 | | state our belief that a public or private post-secondary |
| 17 | | educational institution should include a student veteran on its |
| 18 | | governing board if the institution wishes to call itself |
| 19 | | "veteran friendly"; and be it further

| 20 | | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be made |
| 21 | | available to every public or private post-secondary |
