| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to honor Margaret B. "Peg" Lee, |
| 4 | | Ph.D., on the occasion of her retirement as President of Oakton |
| 5 | | Community College; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee received a Bachelor of Arts degree |
| 7 | | in English Literature and Intellectual History from Regis |
| 8 | | College and a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University |
| 9 | | of Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee has served the people of Illinois |
| 11 | | with distinction since joining Oakton Community College as an |
| 12 | | Academic Vice President and English Professor in 1985; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee became President of Oakton |
| 14 | | Community College in 1995; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Margaret B. Lee, Oakton |
| 16 | | Community College has grown to become a premier community |
| 17 | | college, receiving national distinction for its performance |
| 18 | | while serving 450,000 residents in 16 municipalities; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee has overseen management of the |
| 20 | | Oakton Community College staff, faculty, and students; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee championed the construction of a |
| 2 | | new science facility, the Margaret Burke Lee Science and Health |
| 3 | | Careers Center, which will establish Oakton Community College |
| 4 | | as a leader in the fields of science and health career |
| 5 | | programs; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee has received many distinctions |
| 7 | | throughout her career, including the Holy Family Health Care |
| 8 | | Center's CARES Award, the Girl Scouts of America's Women of |
| 9 | | Achievement Award, the Hands of Peace Olive Branch Award, and |
| 10 | | the National Diversity Council's Most Powerful and Influential |
| 11 | | Women of Illinois Award; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Margaret B. Lee is the mother of 9 children and |
| 13 | | the grandmother of 13 grandchildren; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 16 | | honor Margaret B. "Peg" Lee, Ph.D. on the occasion of on her |
| 17 | | retirement as President of Oakton Community College, thank her |
| 18 | | for her dedication to the people of the State of Illinois, and |
| 19 | | wish her well in all her future endeavors; and be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to Margaret B. Lee as an expression of our esteem and |
