HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Bethlehem Star Missionary 
4Baptist Church on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of its 
5founding; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church was 
7first organized on March 4, 1934 in the New Hope Missionary 
8Baptist Church located on Evans Avenue in Chicago; Rev. C. 
9Mitchells served as moderator and the organizing council 
10members were Rev. W.H. Williams and Deacon Flem Windham; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, On October 22, 1964, Bethlehem Star Missionary 
12Baptist Church moved into its present location on Cottage Grove 
13Avenue; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Throughout the years, Bethlehem Star Missionary 
15Baptist Church grew under the leadership of Rev. W.E. Linton, 
16Rev. Arthur Glenn Diggs, and Rev. Chambers Robinson; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church is 
18currently under the direction of Rev. Roosevelt Watkins, III; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
  
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church on its 
381st anniversary and wish them many more wonderful years; and

5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to Bethlehem Star Missionary Baptist Church as an 
7expression of our esteem and respect.
