HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Child abuse is a community problem; finding 
3solutions depends on involvement among people throughout the 
4community, including the courts; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Statistics of children who are abused and 
6neglected escalate each year; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The effects of child abuse are felt by whole 
8communities and must be addressed by the entire community; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Effective child abuse prevention programs succeed 
10because of partnerships created among the courts, social 
11service agencies, schools, religious organizations, law 
12enforcement, and the business community; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Parents Care + Share, a prevention program of 
14Children's Home + Aid, offers positive parenting alternatives 
15to help break the cycle of abuse; the organization is 
16sponsoring a Blue Bow Campaign to heighten awareness of the 
17need to support families; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, All citizens should become more aware of child 
19abuse within the community, become more involved in its 
20prevention, and support parents to help them raise their

1children in a safe, nurturing environment; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4designate April of 2015 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in the 
5State of Illinois and call upon the citizens of this State to 
6increase their participation in efforts to prevent child abuse, 
7thereby strengthening the communities in which we live.
