HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Glenn Nadig for his service 
4to the northwest Chicagoland community; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig has been operating the Northwest Side 
6Press and the Reporter since 1958; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The Northwest Side Press, first published on May 
81, 1940, covers Jefferson Park, Gladstone Park, Norwood Park, 
9Portage Park, Mayfair, and other area communities; the 
10Reporter, first published on May 3, 1950, covers Edgebrook, 
11Sauganash, Wildwood, and Lincolnweed; and
 
  
12    WHEREAS, It is truly a family affair, with Glenn Nadig's 
13wife, Bette, serving as co-publisher until her passing in 1995, 
14and their son, Brian, now operating the business with his 
15father; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig and his family have a long history of 
17being involved in the community; he, Bette, and Brian have all 
18served as President of the Jefferson Park Chamber of Commerce, 
19and his newspapers have employed more than 5,000 neighborhood 
20children as newspaper carriers; and

1    WHEREAS, Glenn Nadig's newspapers pride themselves on 
2being local; they cover stories throughout the Chicagoland area 
3as well as stories that may be happening on someone's block or 
4just down the street; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7recognize and thank Glenn Nadig for his service to the 
8northwest Chicagoland community; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Glenn Nadig as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
