HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Michael "Mike" O'Donnell
4on the occasion of his retirement from his position as
5Executive Director of the East Central Illinois Area Agency on
6Aging (ECIAAA), a regional, non-profit organization, after
7more than 35 years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell oversees community-based programs
9and services supporting more than 20,000 older adults in over
1016 counties, working in coordination with the Illinois
11Department of Aging and a network of other agencies; he is
12responsible for the administration of the agency's $8.9 million
13dollar budget, including federal and State funds; he previously
14worked as Planner, Planning Manager, and Associate Director at
15ECIAAA; and
 
16    WHEREAS, With unwavering dedication to improving the
17quality of life of older Americans and their families in
18Central Illinois, Mike O'Donnell is known for his commitment to
19implementing evidence-based healthy-aging programs; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell advocates tirelessly with public
21officials for issues and policies that support an older adult's
22ability to live life with dignity and safety, making

1independent and informed choices for as long as possible; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell shares willingly his knowledge and
3expertise both professionally and personally, including
4serving as President of the Illinois Coalition on Mental Health
5and Aging; as past President of Illinois Association of Area
6Agencies on Aging and the Illinois Coalition on Aging; as past
7Secretary of Illinois Aging Services; and as a member of the
8Steering Committee for the Illinois Community Health and Aging
9Collaborative; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell, as a man of faith, served his
11country in the United States Navy; he serves as President of
12the Board of Directors for the West Bloomington Revitalization
13Project, as Secretary of the Board of Trustees for Central
14Catholic High School in Bloomington, and is a former board
15member for St. Mary's School; he also serves St. Mary's Parish
16by coordinating its yearly "Annual Diocesan Appeal" campaign
17and his church as a Cantor and choir member; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell is married to Maria, and they plan
19to spend more time enjoying the company of their 4 adult
20daughters and their families, including a growing number of
21grandchildren, and traveling; therefore, be it
 
22    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
2congratulate Michael "Mike" O'Donnell on his retirement from
3his position as Executive Director of the East Central Illinois
