HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rev.
4Willie Taplin Barrow; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was born and raised in Burton, Texas;
6she married Honey Barrow; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow worked as a welder early in her life;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, At 4'11", Rev. Barrow was known as "The Little
10Warrior"; she took part in the labor movement, the civil rights
11movement, and the feminist movement, wherever she saw
12injustice; she also made her presence known in the political
13world by going on the road with Rev. Jesse Jackson during his
14presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988; she was a delegate to
15the Illinois Electoral College; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was not afraid of a challenge; she
17often volunteered for what no one else wanted to do; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Rev. Barrow was preceded in death by her husband
19of 50 years, Honey and her son, Keith; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3mourn the passing of Rev. Willie Taplin Barrow, and extend our
4sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
5and loved her; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Rev. Barrow as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
