HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. John Roth on the
4occasion of his retirement and thank him for his countless
5years of service to the Morris community; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth was born on June 23, 1940 in Morris; he
7knew from the time he was a young boy that he would be a doctor,
8just as his father was; and
 
9    WHEREAS, At just 24 years old, Dr. Roth graduated from the
10University of Illinois College of Medicine; he completed
11medical school in just 3 years, rather than the typical 4
12years; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth interned for a year at Denver General
14Hospital and treated his patients like royalty; while at Denver
15General Hospital, he met a young nurse named Judie, who later
16became his wife; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth was drafted to Vietnam after his intern
18year; after serving, he returned to Denver to St. Joseph
19Hospital for a 3-year residency; after finishing his residency,
20he returned home to Morris to practice medicine; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth always knew he was meant to be a doctor
2but was unsure what kind he wanted to be; he thought after his
3time in Vietnam that he would like to be a surgeon; however,
4his father said that if there was a crisis, they would need an
5obstetrician; the Morris community needed an obstetrician, so
6that is what he chose to become; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Obstetrics was a perfect fit for Dr. Roth because
8it still allowed him to perform surgery; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth was there for the Morris Hospital and
10Healthcare Centers when an expectant mother was in crisis; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth has delivered more than 8,000 babies in
1243 years and believes, at the age of 74, it is time for him to
13retire; he has said he is leaving the field in good hands and
14is thrilled to be doing so; and
 
15    WHEREAS, When Dr. Roth returned to Morris, he was the first
16and only doctor practicing obstetrics; he has paved the way for
17many more doctors to practice in the Morris community; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth has set high standards and is described
19by all as both genuine and caring; he will be greatly missed by
20all of the patients that have had the pleasure of his service;

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Roth serves as an example of a hardworking,
2passionate, and dedicated member of the Morris community; his
3work throughout his career has benefited many; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6thank Dr. John Roth for his many years of service, congratulate
7him on the occasion of his retirement, and wish him all the
8best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Dr. Roth as an expression of our congratulations
11and appreciation for a job well done.
