| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Heritage Corridor |
| 4 | | Convention & Visitors Bureau for over 30
years of excellence in |
| 5 | | tourism and for proudly serving the communities and counties |
| 6 | | along
the historic I & M Canal National Heritage Corridor; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors |
| 8 | | Bureau has served the Illinois and Michigan Canal National |
| 9 | | Heritage Corridor for over 30 years and has established itself |
| 10 | | as an economic catalyst and
resource for tourists and |
| 11 | | residents; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 2013, visitors to the I&M Heritage Corridor |
| 13 | | spent over $844 million, returning nearly $43 million of both |
| 14 | | local and State tax receipts; $192 million in payroll, creating |
| 15 | | nearly 8,000 jobs; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The visitors can be seen in downtown shops, |
| 17 | | touring Route 66, biking the Canal Path,
enjoying the casinos, |
| 18 | | shopping the malls, or dining in one of the many unique |
| 19 | | regional
restaurants; these visitors' dollars help the |
| 20 | | businesses thrive; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, The Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors |

| 1 | | Bureau was recently awarded accreditation from the Destination |
| 2 | | Marketing Accreditation
Program, an international program |
| 3 | | developed by the Destination Marketing Association
|
| 4 | | International; this accreditation demonstrates that the CVB |
| 5 | | achieved compliance in over 74 standards
in areas such as |
| 6 | | governance, finance, management, human resources, marketing, |
| 7 | | sales,
visitor services, and destination development; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, The Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors |
| 9 | | Bureau is one of 193 Accredited CVB's worldwide and is the |
| 10 | | official,
highest governing entity authorized to provide |
| 11 | | destination marketing for the region; therefore, be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 14 | | congratulate the Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors |
| 15 | | Bureau for over 30
years of excellence in tourism and for |
| 16 | | proudly serving the communities and counties along
the Historic |
| 17 | | I&M Canal National Heritage Corridor; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to the Heritage Corridor Convention & Visitors Bureau |
| 20 | | as an expression of our esteem and respect.
