| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Indiana General Assembly recently signed |
| 3 | | Senate Bill 101, known as the "Religious Freedom Restoration |
| 4 | | Act", into law; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The bill enshrines legal discrimination against |
| 6 | | others, such as homosexuals, based on the pretext of religious |
| 7 | | freedom; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Passing a bill of this type could in fact |
| 9 | | perpetuate further discrimination of other groups on the |
| 10 | | pretext of religious freedom; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The bill poses a threat to Illinoisans who visit |
| 12 | | Indiana, who could be discriminated against by the newly |
| 13 | | adopted law; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 15 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 16 | | Indiana's "Religious Freedom Restoration Act" is publicly |
| 17 | | condemned by this body as an unnecessary and discriminatory |
| 18 | | measure that harms United States society; and be it further

| 19 | | RESOLVED, That we discourage travel to Indiana for the |
| 20 | | purposes of guaranteeing the right to be attended to in any |
