HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert 
4McCarthy of Decatur; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Robert McCarthy represented the Decatur area as an 
6Illinois State Representative for 22 years; and
  
 
  
7    WHEREAS, Robert McCarthy volunteered  Decatur to receive 
8presidential candidate John F. Kennedy in the fall of 1959 
9after other Illinois cities had passed; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert McCarthy served as an Illinois State 
11Senator for 16 years, beginning the year John Kennedy became 
12President; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert McCarthy worked alongside numerous 
14prominent leaders in Illinois history, including Alan Dixon, 
15Paul Simon, and Dick Durbin; therefore, be it
  
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
17NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18mourn the passing of Robert McCarthy, and extend our sincere 
19condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
20him; and be it further
