HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Isaiah Alexander Martinez 
4of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on winning the 
52014-2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association National 
6Championship in wrestling; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was undefeated in the 2014-2015 
8season with a record of 34 wins and 0 losses; he is the first 
9undefeated freshman national champion since 1999; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was the 2014-2015 Big Ten Champion 
11and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was one of 4 finalists for the 
13Hodge Award - wrestling's equivalent to the Heisman Trophy in 
14college football; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez was a 3-time California High 
16School State Champion; in 2012, he was the National Junior 
17Freestyle Champion; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Isaiah Martinez's hometown is Lemoore, 
19California; his parents are Alfred Garcia and Yvonne Martinez 
20Garcia; he has 2 brothers, Isaac and Steven, and one sister,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4congratulate Isaiah Alexander Martinez on winning the 
52014-2015 National Collegiate Athletic Association National 
6Championship in wrestling, and we wish him many more successful 
7years; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Isaiah Martinez as an expression of our esteem and 
10respect.
