| 2 | | WHEREAS, Safety is the highest priority for the streets and |
| 3 | | highways of our State; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The great State of Illinois is proud to be a |
| 5 | | national leader in motorcycle safety, education, and |
| 6 | | awareness; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Motorcycles are a common and economical means of |
| 8 | | transportation that reduce fuel consumption and road wear and |
| 9 | | contribute in a significant way to the relief of traffic and |
| 10 | | parking congestion; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, It is especially meaningful that the citizens of |
| 12 | | our State be aware of motorcycles on the roadways and recognize |
| 13 | | the importance of motorcycle safety; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The members of A Brotherhood Aimed Toward |
| 15 | | Education (A.B.A.T.E.) of Illinois, Inc. continually promote |
| 16 | | motorcycle safety, education, and awareness in high school |
| 17 | | drivers' education programs and to the general public in our |
| 18 | | State; A.B.A.T.E. has presented motorcycle awareness programs |
| 19 | | to over 100,000 participants in Illinois over the past 6 years; |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, All motorcyclists should proudly and actively |
| 2 | | promote the safe operation of motorcycles, as well as promote |
| 3 | | motorcycle safety, education, and awareness; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, The motorcyclists of Illinois have contributed |
| 5 | | extensive volunteer service and money to many national and |
| 6 | | community charitable organizations; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, During the month of May, all roadway users should |
| 8 | | unite in the safe sharing of roadways within and throughout the |
| 9 | | great State of Illinois; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 11 | | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, |
| 12 | | in recognition of over 637,000 registered motorcyclists |
| 13 | | statewide, 27 years of service from the members of A.B.A.T.E. |
| 14 | | of Illinois, Inc., and the continued role that Illinois serves |
| 15 | | as a leader in motorcycle safety, education, and awareness, we |
| 16 | | designate the month of May in 2015 and 2016 as Motorcycle |
| 17 | | Awareness Month in the State of Illinois; and be it further
|
| 18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 19 | | presented to A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois as a symbol of our esteem |
| 20 | | and respect.
