HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Barbara Ferguson 
4on the occasion of receiving the Altrusa International Club of 
5Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 2015 Award; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. is an 
7international service organization comprised of executive and 
8professional women; the Altrusa Club of Elgin sponsors a number 
9of projects in the community through volunteerism and monetary 
10support; its members reside throughout the Northern Fox Valley 
11area, including Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlett, Dundee, Sleepy 
12Hollow, Carpentersville, Algonquin, Bartlett, Hampshire, 
13Huntley, and Pingree Grove; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson graduated from the University of 
15San Francisco with a bachelor's degree in both education and 
16world literature; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has been an integral part of the 
18Dundee Township community for over 30 years; she is a board 
19member of Summit School, Inc., the Boys and Girls Club of 
20Dundee Township, and the Northwest Suburban United Way; she 
21previously served as a board director of the Dundee Township 
22United Way, the Community Crisis Center, and the League of

1Women Voters; she is also an active member of Saint Catherine 
2of Siena Church in West Dundee; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has volunteered 16 years of board 
4service with the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township, 
5serving on a variety of leadership roles and committees over 
6the years; she and her husband are beloved for their Annual 
7Dinner "500 Homemade Cookies" Live Auction donation, which has 
8raised nearly $50,000 per year over the past 5 years; her 
9advocacy for the organization also helped the Boys and Girls 
10Club of Dundee Township to acquire a $200,000 Education Grant 
11through the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago; she has also 
12volunteered for numerous other organizations throughout the 
13Dundee Township area, including the Centro de Informacion, the 
14Fox Valley Hospice, and many others; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson has been the recipient of 
16numerous awards and honors, including the Boys and Girls Club 
17Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 and the Dundee Township 
18Rotary Club's "Service Above Self" Award in 2013; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson and her husband, Roger, have 2 
20children and 7 grandchildren; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Barbara Ferguson serves as a model of hard work, 
22integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4congratulate Barbara Ferguson on the occasion of receiving the 
5Altrusa International Club of Elgin, Inc. Woman of the Year 
62015 Award and wish her continued success and happiness in the 
7future; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Barbara Ferguson as a symbol of our esteem and 
10respect.
