HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Brianna Carey on 
4receiving the 2015 Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Brianna Carey, an esteemed resident of Geneva and 
6a student at Geneva Community High School, has achieved 
7national recognition for her exemplary volunteer service; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential 
9Financial in partnership with the National Association of 
10Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across 
11America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to 
12serving their communities; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Brianna Carey earned this award by giving 
14generously of her time and energy to founding a website to help 
15teens all over the world with their emotional struggles called 
16"A Cutter's Guardian Angel", which has grown into an 
17organization that helps those in need via social media, the 
18internet, and community events; she was motivated by her own 
19experiences to found the site in 2012 and recently partnered 
20with 3 other teens to help coordinate and expand the  group, 
21which is in the process of applying for nonprofit status; and

1    WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength 
2of our communities, and the overall vitality of American 
3society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young 
4people like Brianna Carey who use their considerable talents 
5and resources to serve others; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8congratulate and honor Brianna Carey as a recipient of the 2015 
9Prudential Spirit of Community Award; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That we recognize Brianna Carey's  outstanding 
11record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community 
12spirit, and we extend best wishes for her continued success and 
13happiness; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Brianna Carey as an expression of our esteem and 
16respect.
