HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Fr. Daniel Torson, CPPS on 
4the occasion of his 25th pastoral anniversary and his 10 years 
5of dedicated service at St. Victor's Parish in Calumet City; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson graduated in 1979 from the 
8University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Music 
9Education Degree; after graduation, he taught elementary and 
10junior high instrumental music in Nebraska City Public Schools 
11and was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Nebraska City, 
12Nebraska; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson served in the United States Air 
14Force from 1982 to 1984 as a saxophonist in the Strategic Air 
15Command Band at Offutt Air Force Base; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, After entering formation with the Society of the 
17Precious Blood in 1984, Fr. Daniel Torson spent one year 
18pursuing pre-theology studies at Rockhurst College, Kansas 
19City, followed by a year in Special Formation in San Angelo, 
20Texas and 4 years of graduate studies at St. John's University 
21Collegeville, Minnesota, where he completed his Master of 
22Divinity Degree; during his studies at St. John's, he spent one

1semester in Israel and the Middle East studying scripture and 
2history; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson was ordained on June 14, 1990 at 
4St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, Missouri; during his 
5tenure, he has spent time in various places, including Kansas 
6City and Liberty, Missouri; Rensselaer, Indiana; and Lewis 
7University in Romeoville, where he serves as an Assistant 
8Professor of Theology and as University Chaplain; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Fr. Daniel Torson serves as a model of hard work, 
10integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of 
11Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14congratulate Fr. Daniel Torson on the occasion of his 25th 
15pastoral anniversary and his 10 years of dedicated service at 
16St. Victor's Parish and wish him continued success and 
17happiness in the future; and be it further
  
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
19presented to Fr. Daniel Torson as a symbol of our esteem and 
20respect.
