HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kenneth
4LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph. of Joliet, who passed away on April 12,
52015; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was the CEO, President, and
7pharmacist of J.D. Brown & Company - the oldest drug store in
8the State of Illinois; he and his wife were co-founders of The
9Peanut Gallery, The Gift Box, and The Jacob Henry Mansion,
10where he served as President; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz served as a Joliet City Councilman;
12he also worked with The Bicentennial Park, Downtown Development
13Committee, the Governor of Illinois' Clean and Beautiful Board,
14the Joliet Youth Task Force, Habitat for Humanity, the Joliet
15Region Chamber of Commerce, the JJC Foundation, the Cathedral
16Area Preservation Association, the Pharmaceutical Association,
17and the Joliet Kiwanis; he served as an Elder of the First
18Presbyterian Church of Joliet and was a member of Wish Upon a
19Star and the Moran Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz received numerous accolades during
21his life, including the Illinois Chamber of Commerce,
22Business/Retailer/Man of the Year award; the Joliet Chamber of

1Commerce Outstanding Small Business of the Year Award, 2005;
2the Joliet Area Historical Society Mary Barr West Award; the
3Heritage Corridor Tourism Cultural Heritage Award; the
4Cathedral area Preservation Association Annual Preservation
5Award; and numerous other pharmaceutical and civic accolades;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz enjoyed traveling and photography;
8he was an avid fan of U of I, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago
9Bears, and loved spending time with his family; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz was preceded in death by his
11parents, Raymond O. and Agnes (Facinelli) Pritz and his father
12and mother-in- law, Vivian and Raymond Kilgos; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kenneth Pritz is survived by his wife of 56 years,
14Carol S. (nee Kilgos); his 6 children, Susan (Larry) Bornhofen,
15Jeff (Laura) Pritz, Jill (Dave) Umek, Anne (John) Doll, John
16(Annette) Pritz, and Jim (Dawn) Pritz; his 21 grandchildren,
17Elisabeth (Joe) Adler, Sarah (Jeremy) Orr, Amanda (Tommy)
18Moretti, Anna Bornhofen, Megan (Joe) Felix, Matt and Vivian
19Pritz, Stephanie, Adam, Maggie, Nick and Abbey Umek, Julie and
20Jennifer Doll, Shyla, Ally, Connor, and Taytum Pritz, and Alex,
21Thomas, and Ava Pritz; his 3 great-grandchildren, Joseph Adler,
22V, Vivian Orr, and Claire Moretti, with one more
23great-grandchild due in May; his 2 sisters, Shirley

1(James-deceased) Monday and Joann (Clare "Monk") Moore; and his
2many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5mourn the passing of Kenneth LeRoy Pritz, R.Ph., and extend our
6sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
7and loved him; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Kenneth Pritz as an expression of
10our deepest sympathy.
