HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Benet Academy Lady
4Redwings on winning the 2015 Illinois High School Association
5Girls Basketball Class 4A State Championship; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Lady Redwings began the season unranked; they
7won 18 consecutive games, including 3 tournament
8championships: the Naperville Central Tip-Off tournament, the
9Naperville North Holiday tournament, and the Montini Christmas
10tournament; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The Lady Redwings final season record was 34 wins
12and 3 losses; this included wins against 5 opponents ranked in
13the top 10; their 34-3 record makes the 2014-15 Lady Redwings
14the winningest basketball team (boys or girls) in Benet Academy
15history; and
 
16    WHEREAS, This year's Lady Redwings team is only the second
17Benet Academy girl's basketball team to reach the tournament
18downstate and the first girl's basketball team to win State;
19this year's team became one of only 2 schools in Illinois
20history to win girls volleyball and basketball State
21championships in the same year; and

1    WHEREAS, The Lady Redwings' averaged 69 points per game and
2held opponents to 48 points per game; they ranked in the top 25
3nationally by USA Today Super 25 Expert rankings; and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Lady Redwings are Morgan Thomalla, Emma
5Hlavin, Emily Schramek, Emily Eshoo, Colleen Pfister, Kathleen
6Doyle, Sarni Valentine, Maddie Bozych, Megan Will, Elise Stout,
7Sydney Stephens, Emma Lyne, Kendal Schramek, and Katie
8Jaseckas; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The Lady Redwings are coached by Joe Kilbride; the
10assistant coaches are Kelsey Stone and John Corrigan;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14congratulate the Benet Academy Lady Redwings on winning the
152015 Illinois High School Association Girls Basketball Class 4A
16State Championship and we wish them many more successful years;
17and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the Lady Redwings as an expression of our esteem
20and respect.
