HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the Milano Bakery on the 
4occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery was founded in Chicago in 1915 
6by Mario DeBenedetti, Sr., his sister, Mary, and his 
7brother-in-law, Frank Soffianti; it has been located in Joliet 
8since 1926; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has been passed down through 
10numerous generations of family members, first from Mario, Sr. 
11to Mario, Jr., and it is now operated by brothers, Mario, III 
12and Darin; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Most employees of the Milano Bakery are family 
14members, helping out with pastry baking, wedding cakes, sales, 
15and customer service; and
  
 
  
16    WHEREAS, The Milano Bakery has survived the Great 
17Depression and other economic downturns throughout the years 
18and continues to thrive after over a century in operation; 
19therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2recognize the Milano Bakery on its 100th anniversary and we 
3wish it many more years of success; and be it further
  
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5presented to the DeBenedetti family as an expression of our 
6esteem and respect.
