HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, State Representative Monique D. Davis and the 
3members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened 
4to learn of the death of Rev. Howard S. Nichols, Sr. of 
5Chicago; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols was born in Canton, Mississippi on 
7August 17, 1936 to Walter and Rosie Nichols; he received his 
8Bachelor of Arts in Sociology
from Roosevelt University; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols was an ordained
minister and the 
10dedicated pastor of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church; 
11and


  
 
12    WHEREAS, Rev. Nichols is survived by his  wife, Ruth E. (nee 
13Hudson)  Nichols; his children, Debra, Shari (Curtis, Sr.), 
14Krista (Greg),
Marva (Thomas), and Howard, Jr.; a host of 
15grandchildren, other family, and friends; and the congregation

16of Pleasant Gift Missionary Baptist Church; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
19mourn the passing of Rev. Howard S. Nichols, Sr., and extend 
20our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who 
21knew and loved him; and be it further
