HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Community colleges in the State of Illinois are 
3public institutions that receive State funding; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, The College of DuPage is governed by a Board of 
5Trustees; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The College of DuPage Board of Trustees recently 
7approved a $763,000 severance package for its current 
8President; and
  
 
  
9    WHEREAS, The College of DuPage Board of Trustees is under 
10scrutiny for its spending on meals, beverages, and alcohol for 
11Trustees, spending nearly $20,000 on meals over a 16-month 
12period from September of 2013 to December of 2014; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The DuPage County State's Attorney's Office is 
14currently investigating spending by the College of DuPage Board 
15of Trustees in response to media reports and citizen concerns 
16regarding the improper use of funds; therefore, be it
  
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
19the College of DuPage is urged to report all administrative 
20expenses for Fiscal Year 2015 and all forthcoming years to the

1General Assembly; and be it further
 
2    RESOLVED, That the Trustees of the College of DuPage are 
3urged to participate in professional board development 
4training to enhance their knowledge of board governance and of 
5the duties of a Trustee; and be it further
  
   
6    RESOLVED, That the College of DuPage Board of Trustees is 
7urged to establish a finance committee to evaluate and 
8implement best practices in accounting, transparency, and 
9budgeting.
