| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Dr. James C. Underwood on | ||||||
| 4 | the occasion of his retirement as President of Kaskaskia | ||||||
| 5 | College; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood attended Central Community | ||||||
| 7 | College in Colombus, Nebraska and graduated with a bachelor's | ||||||
| 8 | degree from the University of Nebraska at Kerney; he | ||||||
| 9 | subsequently earned a Master's Degree in Business | ||||||
| 10 | Administration from the University of Arkansas and a Doctorate | ||||||
| 11 | in Education from the University of Arkansas; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood served his country as a member | ||||||
| 13 | of the United States Army Reserve and National Guard and is a | ||||||
| 14 | veteran of the Vietnam War; he also has military education in | ||||||
| 15 | OCS, Ordinance, Special Weapons, and Infantry; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood has been a farm worker, a | ||||||
| 17 | cattle and grain truck driver, an accountant for an irrigation | ||||||
| 18 | pipe manufacturing firm, and has done tax return preparations | ||||||
| 19 | and accounting for small businesses; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood has taught college courses in | ||||||
| 21 | management, leadership, business, economics, accounting, | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | college teaching, and various military subjects; he has also | ||||||
| 2 | taught courses at the Leadership Institute and at distance | ||||||
| 3 | learning guest lectures; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Prior to gaining his position as the President of | ||||||
| 5 | Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Dr. James Underwood was the | ||||||
| 6 | President of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, the Chief | ||||||
| 7 | Academic Officer at Richland Community College in Decatur, and | ||||||
| 8 | the Vice-President for Finance and Administration at the | ||||||
| 9 | University of Arkansas at Fort Smith in Arkansas; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood has been published in many | ||||||
| 11 | journals and newspapers, including the Community College | ||||||
| 12 | Review and the ACCT Journal; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. James Underwood serves as a model of hard | ||||||
| 14 | work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
| 15 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 17 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 18 | congratulate Dr. James C. Underwood on the occasion of his | ||||||
| 19 | retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the | ||||||
| 20 | future; and be it further

| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
