| 2 | WHEREAS, In 1921, 3 young Japanese chemists in Tokyo laid | ||||||
| 3 | the foundation for the GC Corporation; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, The GC Corporation is one of the world's largest | ||||||
| 5 | manufacturers of dental products with nearly
2,600 associates | ||||||
| 6 | and production sites in Japan, United States, China, and | ||||||
| 7 | Europe; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The GC Corporation's subsidiary in the United | ||||||
| 9 | States is known as GC America; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, GC America works with dentists, technicians, | ||||||
| 11 | hygienists, and other dental professionals around
the world to | ||||||
| 12 | be a leader in providing quality dental care products that make | ||||||
| 13 | a major contribution to
people's health; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, GC America constantly seeks to produce original | ||||||
| 15 | products that consciously curtail the
environmental impact of | ||||||
| 16 | the production process; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, The GC Corporation recently celebrated 94 years as | ||||||
| 18 | a leader in innovation and technology of
dental materials; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Deming Prize was established in 1951 to honor | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | W. Edwards Deming who contributed
greatly to Japan's | ||||||
| 2 | proliferation of statistical quality control after World War | ||||||
| 3 | II; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, W. Edwards Deming's teachings helped Japan's | ||||||
| 5 | industries become recognized as delivering
the highest quality | ||||||
| 6 | in the world; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Deming Prize is a global quality award that | ||||||
| 8 | recognizes businesses that have successfully
implemented Total | ||||||
| 9 | Quality Management (TQM); and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Deming Prize is one of the oldest and most | ||||||
| 11 | widely recognized quality awards in the world
according to The | ||||||
| 12 | Management and Control of Quality (4th ed.), written by James | ||||||
| 13 | Evans and William Lindsay
in 1993; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, GC America received the prestigious Deming Prize | ||||||
| 15 | in 2014 for their continued quality; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, GC America is the first dental company in the | ||||||
| 17 | United States to earn the Deming Prize; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, GC America is only the fourth company in the | ||||||
| 19 | United States to earn the Deming Prize; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 2 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate GC America on receiving the prestigious and | ||||||
| 4 | globally recognized Deming Prize for being a worldwide leader | ||||||
| 5 | in Total Quality Management; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to GC America as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 8 | respect.
