HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Assistant 
4Chief David Watkins of Sauget, who passed away on May 11, 2015; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Chief Watkins was born in East St. Louis on 
7January 29, 1948; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Watkins began his career with the Sauget 
9Fire Department on April 15, 1970 and became Assistant Chief on 
10February 10, 1994, serving until his passing; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Chief Watkins served over 45 years with the same 
12department; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Chief Watkins is a Vietnam Veteran, having served  
14with the United States Navy; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Chief Watkins is survived by his wife of 46 years, 
16Maxine; his daughters, Kimberly and Lindsay; and his son, 
17Jeffrey, a Captain with the Sauget Fire Department; therefore, 
18be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2mourn the passing of Assistant Chief David Watkins, and extend 
3our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who 
4knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to the family of Chief Watkins as an expression of 
7our deepest sympathy.
