HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maurie
4Berman, who passed away on May 17, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Maurie Berman served in the military during World
6War II, taking part in the Battle of the Bulge; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Maurie Berman married Flaurie Miska in 1947; in
8May of 1948, they founded Chicago's iconic Superdawg Drive-In
9and operated it for the next 67 years; he was also a certified
10public accountant; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Maurie Berman is survived by his loving wife, best
12friend, and business partner of 68 years, Flo "Flaurie"; he was
13the cherished father of Scott (Terry), Myles "Mush", and Lisa
14(Don) Drucker; the adoring grandfather of Alyssa "Lyssi"
15(Jordan), Laura (Ben), Max, Steffie, and Ross; the
16great-grandfather of Talia; the beloved brother of Rosa (Jerry)
17Burkman; the beloved father-in-law of Pat Garcia (Julie
18Barton); the grandfather-figure to Livi Barton; and Uncle
19Maurie to many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1mourn the passing of Maurie Berman, and extend our sincere
2condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
3him; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Maurie Berman as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
