HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Maureen Miks on the 
4occasion of her retirement from Community Consolidated School 
5District 181 in June of 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Maureen Miks was an aide at Elm School in Hinsdale 
7from 1984 to 1987 and was a substitute teacher from 1987 to 
81988; she student-taught under Pat Trudicks; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Maureen Miks was hired as the Media Resource 
10Center Director in August of 1988; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Maureen Miks was active with  several clubs and 
12activities, including the Battle of the Books, Camp Invention, 
13the Odyssey of the Mind, Destination Imagination, Outdoor 
14Education, the Young Astronauts, the Morning Club, the Monroe 
15Living Classroom, Student Council, 32 & U, the O'Brien School 
16for the Masaii in Africa, Roots and Shoots - the Jane Goodall 
17Club, and Peace Day; she was a tireless volunteer for 
18student-centered projects; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Maureen Miks most enjoyed the Shedd Aquarium 
20overnight trip that she would take with the 4th grade class;

1    WHEREAS, Maureen Miks grew up in River Forest; she attended 
2St. Norbert College for her undergraduate degree and attended 
3Rosary College in River Forest (Dominican) for her master's 
4degree in library science; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Maureen Miks on her retirement from Community 
8Consolidated School District 181 and wish her the best in all 
9her future endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Maureen Miks as an expression of our esteem and 
12respect.
