HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Stevenson High School 
4Patriots on the occasion of winning 6 State titles during the 
52014-2015 academic year; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, In the 50th year of Adlai E. Stevenson High 
7School, Stevenson won its first State championships in 
8football, boys basketball, and girls water polo; the boys 
9gymnastics team also won its fifth State title and the math and 
10Science Olympiad teams each won their second State 
11championships; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The Patriots football team defeated 
13Homewood-Flossmoor 31 to 25 and won the Class 8A title in 
14Springfield; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The Patriots claimed their first boys State 
16basketball title with a 57 to 40 victory over Normal in Peoria; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The Patriots boys gymnastics team, with only 3 
19members on varsity, won the State championship in Hinsdale; and
 
20    WHEREAS, The Patriots girls water polo team capped an

1undefeated season with a State title in their home pool in 
2Lincolnshire; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, The Patriots Science Olympiad team defeated 
4defending State champions New Trier with a score of 105 to 143 
5at the University of Illinois; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Patriots Math team won the Class 4AA state 
7championship with an overall score of 1,073 points at the 
8University of Illinois; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
10NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
11congratulate Stevenson High School on a year of athletic and 
12scholastic success and wish them many more successful years to 
13come; and be it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to Stevenson High School as an expression of our 
16esteem and respect.
