HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of WCIA-TV 
4co-anchor Dave Benton; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dave Benton grew up in Addison and received his 
6degree in broadcast journalism from Northern Illinois 
7University; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Dave Benton worked in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Wausau, 
9Wisconsin; and Minot, South Dakota; before joining WCIA in 
102005; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Dave Benton was devoted to his community; he gave 
12his time and efforts to numerous organizations, most notably 
13Champaign County Crime Stoppers; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Dave Benton was a mentor to many young journalists 
15who passed through the WCIA newsroom over the past decade; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Dave Benton is survived by his wife, Terri; his 
17children, Matthew and Lauren; and his WCIA family; therefore, 
18be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2mourn the passing of WCIA-TV co-anchor Dave Benton, and extend 
3our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who 
4knew and loved him; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
6presented to the family of Dave Benton as an expression of our 
7deepest sympathy.
