HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Sarah Alice Grass was born in Elizabeth, Indiana 
3on June 18, 1916 to
the late Alva Otto Grass and the late Vada 
4Etna Grass; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sarah Poe was one of 3 siblings, along with her 
6sister, the late Margaret Grass, and her brother, the late 
7Chester Grass; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Sarah Poe married Donald L. Poe on December 9, 
91936 in the Christian Church
in Williamsville; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Sarah Poe and Donald raised 4 kids, Marie 
11Patterson, Joyce Barregarye,
Donald R. Poe, and Kay Sapp; and
 
12    WHEREAS, In order to provide for their family, Sarah Poe 
13and Donald farmed for nearly
35 years; in addition, she served 
14as a Fancy Creek Township tax collector for decades; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Sarah Poe has been blessed with 12 grandchildren, 
1622 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, To her core, Sarah Poe is a woman of service to 
18others; she raised her
beautiful family with the understanding 
19that we all have a responsibility to uplift one another;

2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4wish Sarah Alice
Poe an amazing 99th birthday and we wish her 
5many more wonderful years; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Sarah Poe as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
