HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate  Tom McIntyre on the 
4occasion of his retirement from WEEK-TV Channel 25 in Peoria on 
5May 21, 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre was born in Bloomington and grew up 
7in Chenoa; he later returned to the Bloomington-Normal area to 
8attend Illinois State Normal University (now Illinois State 
9University), where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 
10Education with majors in Speech and Psychology in 1966; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, After working for several radio stations, 
12including WIRL-TV/WIRL-AM 1290, and a stint in the United 
13States Navy at Fort Meade, Tom McIntyre began working at 
14WEEK-TV in 1973, beginning his career as a reporter; soon 
15after, he became the anchor of News 25 at Six and News 25 
16Nightside, where he served for 42 years until his retirement; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre has received numerous awards in 
19journalism from the Associated Press and United Press 
20International; and
  
 
21    WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre is involved with numerous community

1organizations, including the Peoria Historical Society, Bring 
2Home the Duryea, the Awards Committees for the YWCA Leadership 
3Luncheon, and the Peoria Jaycees; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Tom McIntyre enjoys riding his motorcycle, 
5traveling, working on his home, and reading; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
8congratulate Tom McIntyre on the occasion of his retirement and 
9wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be 
10it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Tom McIntyre as a symbol of our esteem and 
13respect.
