HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives Wish to congratulate Edward "Ed" Zabrocki on his 34 years of service to the people Tinley Park; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki was first elected as the Mayor of the Village of Tinley Park in 1981; and

WHEREAS, Under Ed Zabrocki's 34 year term as Mayor, the Village of Tinley Park transformed to one of the Chicago region's leading suburbs; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki is considered an approachable, accessible, and honest leader; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki is praised and regarded as a great leader of the Village of Tinley Park; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki was instrumental in making the Village of Tinley Park home to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia and Together We Cope, organizations that impact the lives of thousands of people even beyond the Tinley Park voter limits; and

WHEREAS, Under Ed Zabrocki, Tinley Park won the prestigious designation of Business Week's Best Place in America to Raise Kids in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki was the only mayor in the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association to have twice served as president; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki grew the population of the Village of Tinley Park from approximately 26,000 to approximately 57,000; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki brought structural and economic growth to the Village of Tinley Park, creating a convention center and an outdoor music theater; and

WHEREAS, Ed Zabrocki announced his resignation, effective June 1, at the annual Tinley Park business breakfast on May 6, 2015; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Edward "Ed" Zabrocki on 34 years of outstanding service as the Mayor of the Village of Tinley Park; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ed Zabrocki as a symbol of our recognition, respect, and esteem.
