HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to recognize the Itasca Park 
4District on the occasion of its achievement as a finalist of 
5the 2015 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Parks and 
6Recreation Management; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, The Itasca Park District in DuPage County earned 
8the finalist nomination for demonstrating excellence in parks 
9and recreation through volunteerism, long-range planning, 
10environmental stewardship, program and professional 
11development, and resource management; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, The American Academy for Park and Recreation 
13Administration and the National Recreation and Park 
14Association select the finalists for the Gold Medal Awards 
15program to recognize communities across the United States for 
16their outstanding achievements; the national organizations 
17judge the agencies on their ability to address the needs to of 
18those they serve through the collective energies of citizens, 
19staff, and elected officials; and

  
 
20    WHEREAS, The Itasca Park District has been selected as one 
21of 3 finalists for park districts with populations of 30,000 or 
22less in the Class 5 Category for the 2015 National Gold Medal

1Award for Excellence; exceeding standard agency expectations, 
2the Itasca Park District was bestowed this honor in 2003 and 
32009; the Park District is viewed as a leader among local 
4taxing bodies, businesses, and communities, who have looked to 
5the Park District for creative ways to provide improved quality 
6of life and wellness, energy savings, and improved 
7accessibility; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
9NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
10recognize the Itasca Park District on the occasion of its 
11achievement as a finalist for the 2015 National Gold Medal 
12Award for Excellence in Parks and Recreation Management and 
13wish it continued success in its finalist bid; and be it 
14further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
16presented to the Itasca Park District and its members as a 
17symbol of our respect and esteem.
