| 2 | WHEREAS, NBA player Andre Tyler Iguodala of the Golden | ||||||
| 3 | State Warriors was born on January 28, 1984 in Springfield; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, While attending Lanphier High School in | ||||||
| 5 | Springfield, where many other notable athletes have also been | ||||||
| 6 | enrolled, Andre Iguodala succeeded both academically and | ||||||
| 7 | athletically, winning All-Conference academic honors, National | ||||||
| 8 | Honor Roll, and State Journal Student-Athlete of the Week many | ||||||
| 9 | times; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, During his senior year, Andre Iguodala lead the | ||||||
| 11 | Lanphier Lions to a second place finish at the Illinois High | ||||||
| 12 | School Association Class AA State tournament in the 2002 | ||||||
| 13 | season; he was named Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year as | ||||||
| 14 | well as a second team Parade All-American, Nike All-American, | ||||||
| 15 | and a finalist for the Illinois Mr. Basketball award; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala attended the University of Arizona | ||||||
| 17 | and played for the Wildcats basketball team; within 2 years, he | ||||||
| 18 | was drafted ninth overall by the Philadelphia 76ers, with whom | ||||||
| 19 | he played for until the summer of 2012, when he was traded to | ||||||
| 20 | the Denver Nuggets in a 4 team trade; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, In 2013, Andre Iguodala's skills were acquired by | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the Golden State Warriors, where he has played as a small | ||||||
| 2 | forward and shooting guard; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala reached the pinnacle of his career | ||||||
| 4 | in the 2015 NBA season by capturing the NBA Finals MVP Award | ||||||
| 5 | during his return to starting lineup in Game 4 of the series; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala played an important role in the | ||||||
| 8 | Golden State Warriors' victory in the NBA Finals over the | ||||||
| 9 | Cleveland Cavaliers, averaging 16.3 points, 4 assists, and 5.8 | ||||||
| 10 | rebounds; in Game 6, he scored 25 points and added 5 rebounds | ||||||
| 11 | and 5 assists; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala's proud connection to Springfield | ||||||
| 13 | and Illinois continues, as The Sporting News named him one of | ||||||
| 14 | "the good guys of 2006" for establishing the Andre Iguodala | ||||||
| 15 | Disaster Relief Fund, which raises money for tornado victims in | ||||||
| 16 | his hometown; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 19 | congratulate Andre Tyler Iguodala for winning the NBA Finals | ||||||
| 20 | MVP Award, show our great pride in our native son for his | ||||||
| 21 | growing professional accomplishments, stalwart good | ||||||
| 22 | sportsmanship, and service to others, and wish him many more | ||||||

| 1 | seasons of great basketball playing; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Andre Iguodala or a member of his immediate family | ||||||
| 4 | as a symbol of our admiration and respect.
