| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Andre Iguodala on winning | ||||||
| 4 | the 2014-2105 NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala was born in Springfield on January | ||||||
| 7 | 28, 1984; he attended Lanphier High School, where he excelled | ||||||
| 8 | both academically and athletically, winning All-Conference | ||||||
| 9 | academic honors, winning the State Journal Register | ||||||
| 10 | Student-Athlete of the Week several times, and placing on the | ||||||
| 11 | National Honor Roll; as a senior, he led his team to a | ||||||
| 12 | second-place finish at the Illinois High School Association | ||||||
| 13 | Class AA State Tournament in 2002; that season, he averaged | ||||||
| 14 | 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game; he was | ||||||
| 15 | named the Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year and a Second | ||||||
| 16 | Team Parade All-American and Nike All-American; his No. 41 | ||||||
| 17 | jersey was retired by Lanphier High School in 2011; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, During the summer of 2000, Andre Iguodala was | ||||||
| 19 | named the AAU National Tournament Most Valuable Player after | ||||||
| 20 | hitting the game-winning shot at the final buzzer to give his | ||||||
| 21 | team a 17-and-under national title; in 2002, he was ranked as | ||||||
| 22 | the No. 6 small forward and the No. 26 overall player in the | ||||||
| 23 | nation; he won a gold medal with the United States national | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | team at the 2012 London Olympics; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala attended Arizona University and | ||||||
| 3 | was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the | ||||||
| 4 | NBA Draft in 2004; he spent time with the Denver Nuggets before | ||||||
| 5 | joining the Golden State Warriors in 2013; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, During the 2015 NBA Finals, Andre Iguodala | ||||||
| 7 | averaged 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1.4 steals | ||||||
| 8 | per game; in the clinching game, he collected 25 points, 5 | ||||||
| 9 | assists, and 5 rebounds; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala was named the NBA Finals Most | ||||||
| 11 | Valuable Player, the first NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP from | ||||||
| 12 | Springfield; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Andre Iguodala and his family started the Andre | ||||||
| 14 | Iguodala Youth Foundation to promote athletics as a conduit to | ||||||
| 15 | educational excellence; the organization sponsors numerous | ||||||
| 16 | events each year that make a difference for Springfield youth | ||||||
| 17 | and their families; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Andre Iguodala on winning the 2014-2015 NBA | ||||||
| 21 | Championship with the Golden State Warriors and thank him for | ||||||

| 1 | his commitment to the Springfield community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 3 | presented to Andre Iguodala as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
