HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Captain Michael J. 
4Wheeler on the occasion of his retirement from the Park Forest 
5Fire Department after nearly 38 years of service; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Cpt. Wheeler began his career with the Park Forest 
7Fire Department on December 26, 1977; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Cpt. Wheeler was a champion 
9of fire safety, spending years educating the community to help 
10them be as safe as possible; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Cpt. Wheeler has been recognized by the National 
12Fire Safety Council, the Illinois  Fire Safety Alliance, and the 
13Suburban B'nai B'rith Council; he received firefighter of the 
14year awards from multiple agencies and was twice recognized by 
15the Chicago Association of Commerce and Industry as the Class 2 
16First Place winner as part of their fire prevention contest; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Cpt. Wheeler's lifetime of dedication to the 
19citizens of Forest Park was recognized by the Park Forest 
20Historical Society in 2008 when he was inducted into the Park 
21Forest Hall of Fame; and

1    WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Fireman Mike", Cpt. 
2Wheeler's retirement will become official on August 14, 2015, 
3and a retirement dinner will be held in his honor on August 15, 
42015; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Captain Michael J. Wheeler on his retirement from 
8the Park Forest Fire Department after nearly 38 years of 
9service, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; 
10and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to Cpt. Wheeler as an expression of our esteem and 
13respect.
