| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Mollie Plummer-Whitman on |
| 4 | | the occasion of her 105th birthday; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman was born in Slaughter, |
| 6 | | Louisana on July 17, 1910; she moved to Chicago in 1944; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman worked for a paper company |
| 8 | | for 18 years, for Oak Forest Hospital for 7 years, and at the |
| 9 | | Chicago hospital for 4 years; she worked at the voting polls |
| 10 | | from 1959 to 1995; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman retired in 1962 to take |
| 12 | | care of her mother and sister; after her mother's passing in |
| 13 | | 1992, she began doing house cleaning until the age of 99; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman credits her long life to |
| 15 | | God; she enjoys attending church and is the President of the |
| 16 | | Mothers Board, a Sunday school teacher, and works with the |
| 17 | | Deacon Board; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Plummer-Whitman makes sure she has some |
| 19 | | kind of vegetable everyday and is thankful to have lived to see |
| 20 | | the first African-American President of the United States; |
