HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are proud to congratulate the United States

4Women's National Soccer Team, Team USA, on winning the 2015 
5FIFA Women's World Cup; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Team USA defeated Japan in the World Cup Final

7with a score of 5-2; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Team USA player, Carli Lloyd, scored 3 goals, 
9making her the first player to score a
hat trick in a Women's 
10World Cup Final; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Team USA had 6 wins, no losses, and one tie while 
12scoring 14 goals and only
conceding 3 during the 2015 World 
13Cup; and
 
14    WHEREAS, This is the third Women's World Cup Championship 
15for Team USA, winning in
1991 and 1999; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives is proud of 
17the strong connection between United States soccer and the 
18State of Illinois; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, The headquarters of the United States Soccer

1Federation is located in the U.S. Soccer House
at the corner of 
218th Street and Prairie Avenue in Chicago; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Illinois serves as the American home of the 
4world's most popular sport; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The head coach for Team USA is Jill Ellis, 
6formerly the head coach for the
University of Illinois; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Four members of the National Women's Soccer 
8League's Chicago Red Stars,
Shannon Boxx, Lori Chalupny, Julie 
9Johnston, and Christenine Press, played for Team USA
during the 
10World Cup Finals; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Many residents of the State of Illinois, including 
12members of The American
Outlaws United States Soccer supporters 
13group chapters in Chicago, Bloomington-Normal, and
Springfield 
14traveled to Canada to cheer Team USA in their quest for glory; 
15therefore, be it
  
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
17NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18congratulate Team USA on their outstanding performance in the 
19FIFA Women's World
Cup and we honor them for their hard-work 
20and determination and for bringing the
World Cup Championship 
21home to the United States; and be it further

2presented to Team USA as a symbol of our admiration and respect
