HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the 50th anniversary of the 
4Ingersoll Scout Reservation, located just west of London Mills; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The land for the reservation was donated by 
7William Parlin Ingersoll in 1963 and officially named in his 
8honor upon his death in 1973; the reservation opened in 
9mid-June of 1965; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, An estimated 40,000 Boy Scouts have taken 
11advantage of what the reservation has to offer since its 
12opening; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, The reservation has received national 
14accreditation almost every year that it has been open; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The reservation is the primary resident camp of 
16the W.D. Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts of America; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Those who have been counselors at the camp have 
18gone on to be members of the military, police officers, 
19firemen, professors, clergy, civic leaders, and executives 
20within the Boy Scout councils and Boy Scout Camp Rangers;

1therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
3NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
4recognize the 50th anniversary of the Ingersoll Scout 
5Reservation and we wish them many more successful years; and be 
6it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the W.D. Boyce Council as an expression of our 
9esteem and respect.
