HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Albert G. "Bert" 
4D'Ottavio on completing the 107th Chicago to Mackinac Island 
5Sailboat Race on July 11, 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio has completed 40 Chicago to 
7Mackinac Island Sailboat Races; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio won the Chicago to Mackinac Island 
9Sailboat Race in 1983 and 1995; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio currently helms a Santa Cruz GL 70, 
11the Thirsty Tiger; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio served as Commodore of the Chicago 
13Yacht Club (CYC) from 2004 to 2005; the Chicago to Mackinac 
14Island Sailboat Race is one of CYC's signature events, as well 
15as the longest running freshwater race in the world; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Bert D'Ottavio has experienced sailboat racing 
17all over the world, but says that the "MAC" always seems to 
18provide the most memorable racing and the most varied of 
19conditions; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate Albert G. "Bert" D'Ottavio on completing the 107th 
4Chicago to Mackinac Island Sailboat Race and we wish him many 
5more successful years of sailboat racing; and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to Bert D'Ottavio as an expression of our esteem and 
8respect.
