HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Chris Raap on the occasion of her retirement as Head of Reference for the Evergreen Park Public Library; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Education; she obtained a master's degree in library science from Chicago State University in 1974; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap joined the Evergreen Park Public Library in October of 1974, and through demonstrated leadership was promoted to Head of Adult Services; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap has the distinction of serving under all 4 Evergreen Park Public Library Directors: library founder Amie Martin, Connie Angelo, Margaret Smith, and Nicki Seidl; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap has been a valuable member of the management team that coordinated a successful expansion and remodeling of the Evergreen Park Public Library in 2006 and 2007; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap is a strong protector of patrons' right to privacy and confidentiality and is a staunch supporter of intellectual freedom; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap has experienced firsthand the digital evolution in public libraries and has greeted change with competence and enthusiasm; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap has an adventurous spirit that finds an outlet in worldwide travel and that embraces diversity; and

WHEREAS, Chris Raap's retirement will be official on August 21, 2015, after 41 years of service to the Evergreen Park Public Library; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chris Raap on 41 years of service to the Evergreen Park Public Library and to the people of Evergreen Park, and we wish her continued success and fulfillment in her life and future travels; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chris Raap as an expression of our esteem and respect.
