HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Steven R. Bordner on the
4occasion of his retirement as a judge for the 9th Judicial
5Circuit; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Judge Bordner was born in Peoria on August 20,
71955; he graduated from Farmington High School in 1973; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Judge Bordner attended Illinois College from 1973
9to 1977, majoring in history and English; he participated in
10the intercollegiate debate program for 4 years, placed 6th in
11the National Intercollegiate Debate Tournament in Seattle
12Washington in 1977, and defeated every Ivy League school at
13least once during his 4 years of competition; he was actively
14engaged in student government, a member of the Pi Pi Rho
15literary society, serving as President of Pi Pi Rho in 1996,
16and was selected as member of Who's Who in American Colleges
17and Universities in 1997; he attended the Southern Illinois
18University School of Law from 1977 to 1980; he participated in
19National Moot Court Program, setting the best win/loss for the
20school since its inception; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Judge Bordner joined the law firm of Love and
22Collins in 1980; in 1981, the firm was known as Love, Collins

1and Bordner; in 1982, the firm became Collins and Bordner; he
2engaged in the general practice of law with Ted Collins for 15
3years; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Judge Bordner was appointed Associate Judge for
5the 9th Judicial Circuit for the State of Illinois on March 25,
61995; he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to Chair
7the Judicial Conference Committee on Discovery Practice and
8Procedures from 2000 to 2001; his committee wrote most of the
9standard interrogatories currently in use in Illinois during
10that time; he served as administrative or presiding judge from
111999 to 2007; in 2010, he was elected Full Circuit Judge of the
129th Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Fulton, McDonough,
13Knox, Warren, Henderson, and Hancock counties; he served as
14administrative judge of Fulton County from 2012 to the present;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Judge Bordner's hobbies include traveling in the
17United States and abroad, collecting art and wine, and
18following the Chicago Cubs; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21congratulate Steven R. Bordner on his retirement as a judge for
22the 9th Judicial Circuit and we wish him the best in all his
23future endeavors; and be it further
