| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Steven R. Bordner on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as a judge for the 9th Judicial | ||||||
| 5 | Circuit; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Judge Bordner was born in Peoria on August 20, | ||||||
| 7 | 1955; he graduated from Farmington High School in 1973; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Judge Bordner attended Illinois College from 1973 | ||||||
| 9 | to 1977, majoring in history and English; he participated in | ||||||
| 10 | the intercollegiate
debate program for 4 years, placed 6th in | ||||||
| 11 | the National Intercollegiate Debate Tournament in Seattle
| ||||||
| 12 | Washington in 1977, and defeated every Ivy League school at | ||||||
| 13 | least once during his 4 years of
competition; he was actively | ||||||
| 14 | engaged in student government, a member of the Pi Pi Rho | ||||||
| 15 | literary society, serving as
President of Pi Pi Rho in 1996, | ||||||
| 16 | and was selected as member of Who's Who in American Colleges | ||||||
| 17 | and Universities
in 1997; he attended the Southern Illinois | ||||||
| 18 | University School of Law from 1977 to 1980; he participated in | ||||||
| 19 | National Moot Court
Program, setting the best win/loss for the | ||||||
| 20 | school since its inception; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Judge Bordner joined the law firm of Love and | ||||||
| 22 | Collins in 1980; in 1981, the firm was known as Love, Collins | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and Bordner;
in 1982, the firm became Collins and Bordner; he | ||||||
| 2 | engaged in the general practice of law with Ted Collins for
15 | ||||||
| 3 | years;
and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Judge Bordner was appointed Associate Judge for | ||||||
| 5 | the 9th Judicial Circuit for the State of Illinois on March 25,
| ||||||
| 6 | 1995; he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to Chair | ||||||
| 7 | the Judicial Conference Committee on Discovery
Practice and | ||||||
| 8 | Procedures from 2000 to 2001; his committee wrote most of the | ||||||
| 9 | standard interrogatories
currently in use in Illinois during | ||||||
| 10 | that time; he served as administrative or presiding judge from | ||||||
| 11 | 1999 to 2007; in 2010, he was elected Full Circuit Judge of the | ||||||
| 12 | 9th Judicial Circuit, which is comprised of Fulton, McDonough,
| ||||||
| 13 | Knox, Warren, Henderson, and Hancock counties; he served as | ||||||
| 14 | administrative judge of Fulton County from
2012 to the present; | ||||||
| 15 | and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Judge Bordner's hobbies include traveling in the | ||||||
| 17 | United States and abroad, collecting art and wine, and | ||||||
| 18 | following the Chicago Cubs; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 20 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 21 | congratulate Steven R. Bordner on his retirement as a judge for | ||||||
| 22 | the 9th Judicial Circuit and we wish him the best in all his | ||||||
| 23 | future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||

| 2 | presented to Judge Bordner as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
