HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judith Joy on the 
4occasion of receiving the title of Master Editor from the 
5Southern Illinois Editorial Association for 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Judith Joy received a master's degree in botany 
7from Cornell University; her education more than qualified her 
8for the position of farm editor for the Sentinel, which she 
9received in 1967; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Early on in her career, Judith Joy found it 
11difficult being a woman editor in a male-dominated field, but, 
12over time, her knowledge, experience, and passion won the 
13hearts of her readers and co-workers; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Judith Joy has worked for the Sentinel for nearly 
1550 years; during her time there, she has been promoted to 
16feature editor and has expanded her work through her travel 
17segment; in the stories of her world travels, she has been able 
18to bring back fascinating photos and details that allows her 
19readers to experience many wonders that the world has to offer; 
20and

  
 
21    WHEREAS, Judith Joy has been a tremendous asset to the

1Sentinel and has inspired readers and helped to pave the way 
2for women in her field; she could not be more deserving in her 
3being named Master Editor; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6congratulate Judith Joy on the occasion of receiving the title 
7of Master Editor and wish her many more years of success to 
8come; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Judith Joy as an expression of our admiration and 
11respect.
