HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Michael
4Frank Chornak of Marion, who passed away on August 2, 2015; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak was born in Mount Vernon on August
619, 1958 to Frank and Mollie (nee Hogg) Chornak; he graduated
7from Marion High School in 1976, where he was a well-known pole
8vaulter; he received his degree in education, and later, his
9master's in administration from Southern Illinois University
10Carbondale; he married Kellie Winemiller; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak started his career teaching and
12coaching in Carterville; he then joined Marion High School as a
13health instructor and coach; he became the Marion athletic
14director in 1995; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak was a member of Second Baptist
16Church in Marion and also enjoyed attending First Baptist
17Church in Marion; his other memberships included the Southern
18Illinois Coaches Association and the Illinois Athletic
19Directors Association; he was elected the 2012-2013 Class 3A
20and 4A Division Athletic Director of the Year; he was a board
21member for the Marion Country Club and a member of the
22Fellowship of Christian Athletes; he started and sponsored the

1first bass fishing team at Marion High School; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak was an avid hunter and fisherman
3in his free time; he loved fishing in all of the lakes in
4Southern Illinois, but especially enjoyed traveling to Canada
5and Alabama to fish; he also enjoyed hunting deer at Wade
6Hudgens' farm and goose hunting at Pike's Hunting Club; he
7loved his friends and family and all of the fun they had
8camping, cooking out, going to St. Louis Cardinal baseball
9games and Holiday World, and just "hanging out"; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak was preceded in death by his
11parents, and aunts and uncles; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michael Chornak is survived by his son, Collin;
13his daughter, Sydney; his sister, Kathy Dallas and her husband,
14Mark; his niece, Marcy Dallas; his nephew, Brax Dallas; his
15aunt, Clarebel Gray; and many cousins; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18mourn the passing of Michael Frank Chornak, and extend our
19sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
20and loved him; and be it further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
