HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison delivers electricity to 3.8 
3million customers across northern Illinois, with 1.2 million 
4customers in the Chicago area alone; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison has dedicated $50 million 
6over 5 years in financial assistance to fund energy programs 
7for low-income customers, military families, senior citizens, 
8and anyone who may have experienced a job loss, illness, 
9disability, or other hardship; the company seeks to extend this 
10assistance for an additional $50 million over 5 years; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois, in the midst of a budget 
12impasse, has been unable to fulfill its traditional duties of 
13administering Commonwealth Edison's energy assistance 
14programs; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Commonwealth Edison has generously offered 
16assistance in processing applications for financial assistance 
17offered by the utility; the company has also hired 24 former 
18CEDA personnel from the social services agencies, stepping up 
19for the State; and

  
 
20    WHEREAS, Beginning on August 1, 2015, Commonwealth Edison 
21will host energy fairs and open 11 temporary mobile satellite

1locations to help enroll those in need of financial assistance, 
2providing much-needed funding to customers until all such funds 
3are exhausted; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6thank Commonwealth Edison for helping those in need with 
7financial assistance for energy programs; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Anne Pramaggiore, President and CEO of 
10Commonwealth Edison, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
