2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Cecelia Cukla Olejniczak | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of her 90th birthday; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak was born in Chicago on August | ||||||
6 | 15, 1925 to Joseph and Julia Cukla; she attended St. Joseph's | ||||||
7 | Grammar School and Resurrection High School, where she | ||||||
8 | performed a piano concert to raise money for the Red Cross to | ||||||
9 | help troops during World War
II and won a contest for her vocal | ||||||
10 | talents; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, After graduation from high school, Cecelia | ||||||
12 | Olejniczak continued entertaining with many well-known
| ||||||
13 | orchestras in the Chicagoland area; she also worked in the | ||||||
14 | family bakery, which was known as the Original Tasty
Bakery in | ||||||
15 | Chicago; she began attending college in 1944 to work on a | ||||||
16 | musical degree; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, At her mother's request, Cecelia Olejniczak wrote | ||||||
18 | letters to Joseph Olejniczak, a soldier in World War II, and 2 | ||||||
19 | years later in 1946, they married; they moved to Oak Lawn in | ||||||
20 | 1950, where they raised their 9 children; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak became an active parishioner |

1 | at St. Gerald Church, where she was part of the choir and a
| ||||||
2 | substitute organist; in 1952, she became the full-time organist | ||||||
3 | at St. Gerald and St. Albert the Great; she also taught piano | ||||||
4 | and the organ and gave vocal lessons in her home throughout her | ||||||
5 | 90 years; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak was at one time the Musical | ||||||
7 | Director of St. Gerald Church and President of the St. Gerald
| ||||||
8 | Altar and Rosary Society; she earned a Certificate in Church | ||||||
9 | Liturgy and an Associate Degree in Church Music from St.
Joseph | ||||||
10 | College in Indiana during the 1980s; in 1992, she earned her | ||||||
11 | Bachelor of Arts in Music from St. Xavier's
University in | ||||||
12 | Chicago; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak received a Lifetime | ||||||
14 | Achievement Award in 2009 for over 50 years of serving as Music | ||||||
15 | Director at St.
Gerald Church; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak crochets baby blankets for | ||||||
17 | newborn babies and hats for cancer patients at Advocate Christ
| ||||||
18 | Medical Center; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Cecelia Olejniczak is the proud mother of 9; | ||||||
20 | grandmother of 24; and great-grandmother of 27; therefore, be | ||||||
21 | it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | that we congratulate Cecelia Cukla Olejniczak on her 90th | ||||||
4 | birthday and we wish her many more wonderful years; and be it | ||||||
5 | further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
