HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Caroline Portlock on
4becoming the new Workforce Development Director at Joliet
5Junior College; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Prior to undertaking her new role at Joliet Junior
7College, Caroline Portlock served her community as Executive
8Director of the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce - a position
9she has held since August of 2003; and
 
10    WHEREAS, In addition to being the Executive Director of the
11Grundy County Chamber of Commerce, Caroline Portlock has an
12extensive and diverse background working in the private sector;
13she has an experiential background that spans over 20 years
14working in the areas of marketing, public relations - working
15both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations - and human
16resources; and
 
17    WHEREAS, During her time spent working with the Chamber of
18Commerce to produce a better business climate and culture for
19the hard-working families and businesses residing in Grundy
20County, Caroline Portlock developed and implemented training,
21marketing, and management programs for businesses throughout
22the region that, in turn, helped foster a more prosperous,

1vibrant sense of community for businesses and residents alike;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Caroline Portlock's vast experience in human
4resources and public relations, which allowed her to construct
5and actuate a wide-range of strategies and programs, provided
6her with valuable tools that not only helped her be a
7successful leader in the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce, but
8will now allow her to impart her talents to the Joliet Junior
9College community; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Caroline Portlock earned her Bachelors of Science
11from the University Of St. Francis (USF) in 2002; she has since
12received a PHR Certification from the Society of Human Resource
13Management in May of 2002, completed an MBA at USF in May of
142004, and has earned an IOM Certification through the U.S.
15Chamber of Commerce in June of 2008; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Caroline Portlock is not only an ardent exponent
17and fighter for her community in the sometimes highly
18contentious and grueling board rooms of the corporate world,
19she is also quite the worthy opponent in her leisure time; Ms.
20Portlock is a Red Belt in Tae Kwon Do and Combat Hapkido; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Caroline Portlock currently lives with her loving
22husband, Vince, and their 2 lovely Australian Cattle Dogs, Roo

1and Rooby; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Caroline Portlock is a proven, driven individual
3who day-in and day-out tries to serve her community well and at
4all times hopes to provide a better way of life for her
5friends, family, and neighbors; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8commend the remarkable work done by Caroline Portlock for the
9residents of Grundy County and wish her a successful time in
10her new role as Workforce Development Director at Joliet Junior
11College; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Caroline Portlock as a symbol of our sincere
14congratulations.
