| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish thank Richard L. Barnett on his lifetime |
| 4 | | of service to his community; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Richard Barnett was born in Chicago on March 27, |
| 6 | | 1931; he married Grace in 1950 and they settled in North |
| 7 | | Lawndale, where they raised 3 children, Jarmel, Annitria, and |
| 8 | | Jeneria; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Richard Barnett worked at the United States Post |
| 10 | | Office for 34 years, retiring in July of 1986; he taught at the |
| 11 | | Marcy Center for 2 years and at Blessed Sacrament Elementary |
| 12 | | School for 3 years; he was the Midwest District Roundtable |
| 13 | | Chairman for 2 years, taught political education classes for |
| 14 | | Operation Breadbasket/PUSH from 1969 to 1972, and was a member |
| 15 | | of the Penn Elementary Local School Council from 1989 to 2000; |
| 16 | | he taught urban politics for the Associated College of the |
| 17 | | Midwest for 4 years; he was a 25-year member of the Independent |
| 18 | | Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization and a |
| 19 | | 30-year member of the Citizen Information Service-League of |
| 20 | | Women Voters; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Richard Barnett worked with numerous politicians, |
| 22 | | including judges, aldermen, congressmen, state senators, state |
