HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the staff, faculty, alumni, parents, and students of Montini Catholic High School on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, In 1963, 6 area parishes joined together to request that a high school be built in the area; subsequently, the Diocese of Joliet agreed to build Montini Catholic High School, which was sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, with the Adrian Dominican Sisters acting as co-administrators; Montini Catholic High School opened its doors in 1966, making the 2015-2016 school year its 50th year of education; and

WHEREAS, Montini Catholic High School will host a number of events throughout the year to honor the students, faculty, alumni, and their families for their 50 years of service to the community; the new school year began with an opening liturgy on August 21, 2015; during the school's homecoming football game, former football players, cheerleaders, and band members will be honored with a video on the jumbotron and former band members who still play their instruments are invited to play along with the school band; the school will then celebrate 50 years of basketball on January 9, 2016 and 50 years of baseball on April 30, 2016; the school will also honor its music program at its winter concert on February 18, 2016 at the Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, where choir alumni will be invited to perform with the students; the 50th anniversary celebration will wrap up with a dinner and dance on June 4, 2016 at the Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace, where there will be a video presentation of 50 years of Montini; and

WHEREAS, The members of this body are proud to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Montini Catholic High School and its mission of providing students with a well-rounded college preparatory education that focuses on the individual; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff, faculty, alumni, parents, and students of Montini Catholic High School on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Montini Catholic High School as an expression of our esteem and respect.
