HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives would like to congratulate Newman Central Catholic High School's athletic director and head football coach, Mike Papoccia, on the occasion of his 300th career win; and

WHEREAS, Mike Papoccia joins only 7 other football coaches in IHSA history to win 300 games, a coveted milestone; and

WHEREAS, Newman Catholic Central High School, located in Sterling, has had the honor of having Mike Papoccia coach their student-athletes for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Over that time, Mike Papoccia has compiled a record of 300-93; he has also led his teams to IHSA Class 1A State titles in 1990 and 1994 and IHSA Class 2A State titles in 2004, 2010, and 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Chicago Bears named Mike Papoccia as its High School "Coach of the Week" in the second week of their 2015-2016 season for his extraordinary talent in developing players' football skills, as well as their knowledge, character, leadership, discipline, and teamwork abilities; and

WHEREAS, Mike Papoccia is revered as both a fantastic head coach of the Comets and a humble, motivational, and caring role model to his community; and

WHEREAS, The members of this body are appreciative of Mike Papoccia for his continued hard work and dedication to Newman Central Catholic's athletic programs over the years, where he has built an impressive athletics program and developed the athletic skills and character of hundreds of young men and women; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Coach Mike Papoccia on the occasion of his 300th career win and wish him many more successful seasons to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Papoccia as an expression of our esteem and respect.
